If you have the original antenna, you might try that, and the worst case would be intermittent connection inside the radio from the antenna connector, and those do sometimes go bad. Those connectors are usually attached to a PC board, and that's the worst case, because that usually means disassembly and they're a nightmare to get into. The best case would be the antenna itself. So if you have a spare antenna, you might try the KB7GL.
