This is an area that can take forms we haven't even considered yet, but it could be some along the lines of chemical signals, aliens might communicate through chemical exchange, bioluminescence, some aliens might, like fireflies, might be like fireflies, might send messages by body light as a form of visual language. Math and geometric patterns, patterns and symbols expressed in nature could be another form, this can be reproduced as a kind of universal language.
