You are right, it is Josh, and I get called all kinds of things, so don't worry about it. Okay, so this past year has been rough, I think, electronically for me. I most of the time enjoy taking older hardware and repurposing it. As a Texan, that's my way of recycling, I'll put it that way. we don't do a lot of recycling rather that I mean we're kind of out in West well we're not in West Texas but we're we're not in urbanized Texas either so we don't have those type things out here so that's kind of my way of saving New York is reusing older older devices if I can one second my dog is mad because I haven't thrown the ball to her but I just walked out in my backyard with my coffee to talk to y'all and now she is going to nag me and bark unless I throw the ball so one second please and let me just chunk this little tennis ball to the corner. Here you go Willa, go get it. She'll probably come back and balk, but I'll ignore her. Let's see, so I was running up until about three months ago. I was running a couple of Mac Minis. Repurposed with both of you bunters. Headless servers on them. I have found, penny for penny, you can't beat an Apple hardware. Especially if you're just going to run it as a server. I mean, it's just it just it just works. I love it however the mini max I got a both from like 2015 and 16 and I'm pretty sure the thermal paste on both of them is given out I'm not even remotely inclined to try to fix that so I'm going to ship them to Darryl I told him he can have them, slap them, do whatever he wants to with them I'm also going to send him a Pegasus 2 4 R raid storage device that I got with them and And since it's made for Apple, and it comes with a Thunderbolt port and all that, yeah, Dell can have all that. I want to move away from it. So, currently I'm running my work laptop, which is pretty powerful. I mean, for what I do, it has to be pretty strong. I'm running my Pi. I'm running both of my mobile devices. And I am piggybacking on my son's Windows computer. I have it set up so I can just remote in it when I really need to use a Windows computer that's not work-related. Believe it or not, for the past three months I've been able to get ready with that. The Pi is running a couple of little Docker containers, little services that I want to keep up and run. I can access it through my phone or my tablet. my tablet it's an s10 so i can i can put it in dex mode with a keyboard and a mouse and it acts just like a computer so uh yeah i've been getting away with that for a while and saving my pennies but i am getting ready to buy i'm getting ready to buy something new for the first time in i bet you 10 years so i'm oh i found out yeah i was ending that with that uh i am shopping and looking uh i gotta quietly i'm gonna say this i don't get in trouble i'm setting myself a 2500 budget for new computers workstation monitors to hold the whole the whole nine yards there you go i hope it didn't take up too much time kj5 ilq ve3 fbx nope not at all i love hearing about other geeks and their stuff their toys um yeah and i said to buy a new motherboard for my nas um i popped in an old i7 that i had kicking around and it's up and running um so i've got access everything but I'm not going to set everything back up because that processor is a little underpowered for what it's doing. New motherboard is going to show up on Tuesday. I'll swap the CPU out of the one that bit the dust in the power outage and then I should be back up and running again. It's a monster. It's a full-sized 3U case. It goes in my rack. I've got a... God, I can't remember who made it now, but it's a double-sided rack and one side is Now two masses the There's a network switch on that side the acts of the Wi-Fi access points It's on top my firewall and modem are up on a shelf And then the other side is all pies and radio stuff or it's going to be radio stuff that I'm building out with its own PoE switch in it so I'm slowly rebuilding all my stuff I'm like you I use a lot of reclaimed electronics I've got for the mini form-factor PCs that I run headless everything's on Linux there's not a Windows machine to be found in the house oh that's not true I've got one that's repurposed and I got that solely for running the software for my new digital radio that I haven't programmed yet. I haven't been able to get it software to run in wine yet and I don't feel like running a virtual machine so well when I get it figured out for wine then that other machine and it'll get converted over to Linux too. Now I'm a, I like my tech and I love my Linux.
