Uranus was at opposition on the 21st, rising as the sun sets. Uranus is now rising about 3.51 p.m. by month's end. Uranus is at its best and brightest for the year this month. Look for Uranus to the south in the evening, that's when it is a little bit higher up and You won't have the twilight glow to interfere with it too much, but it is rising in the late afternoon. Uranus is in the constellation of Taurus, shining at magnitude 5.6. And Taurus is obviously one of the more famous constellations up there. Always need to look at that. So give Taurus a little while to rise as well, and then look towards the south for Uranus. In that constellation, it's actually fairly close to the Pleiades. It's just below the Pleiades, so it's going to be kind of a bluish green planet. It's going to be more green than blue. And it will look like a discernible disk. And that goes for all the planets. you'll actually see them as a discernible disk as opposed to a pinpoint of light like the stars. Mercury and Venus are kind of exceptions. You won't see a full disk of either of those planets, but you may see them in crescent phase the farther away they get from the sun. So always interesting to see a crescent Venus or a crescent Mercury. Then next we've got Neptune. Neptune is rising about 1.15 p.m. in the afternoon this month and by month's end as well. So actually very close. It is actually rising about five minutes after Saturn. We'll bring Neptune to the south in the evening just east following Saturn by just a few minutes all month. Neptune is in the constellation of Pisces shining at magnitude 7.7. So Neptune is a full seven magnitudes dimmer than Saturn. So we're talking about 120 times or thereabouts. So 2.5 to the seventh times dimmer. So you'll have to work on that one for sure.
