Well, Anne, when you mention Christmas carols, I hear the Wexford carol in my head immediately. My favorite carol. 75,000 words. I've never written anything that was 75,000 words long. And it ends killing people off, you know? If I'm really mad at someone, I just write a short story in which they die. Yeah, just kidding, I didn't say that, did I? And then, you know, one of the things that I do to figure out my word count and also to hear, I mean, when you're writing, you just, oh, I'm just so fluid, blah, blah, blah. And then you read it aloud, and there are so many awkward turns of phrase.
