2 meter LRB, yes we're in Monday, about 5.30am, I just couldn't sleep. I have a huge respect for you Brian and all the other net controllers. Yesterday we had a 2 meter event and I don't know whether you'd say 4 or 3 or not, obviously if you're a net controller but for one of the areas in the UK. And, wow, I wore out two pencils in three hours. I've never done that before in my life. I packed a box full of tin and there were tin from the races. But yes, as I say, yesterday I was working 2 meters FM on the 145 band and, wow, it's like you could be a net controller. I was looking for half of this and another hand coming in the company and he was acting in strife and then we swapped over and he operated nice, nice describing. But yes, wow, he had fantastic contacts in three hours, all within about a 100 mile radius from a local high point. I mean, not a lot of high by US standards but high by UK standards. I mean, the 7th and 8th, obviously level. It's really interesting and makes a number of things a lot. You know, I could give something when I was driving, I could recognise the voice or the call sign or both or the name and I could fill out most of the log sheet as soon as I heard the voice calling. But yes, as I say, I met the specialist in the event the first year after three hours. A guy came up and gave me a bottle of beer and he's like the licensed ham. He's due to take his first license, his foundation license, later on in the year but he's heard me, he was about 15, 20 miles away and he heard me on the foot. He came up, introduced himself and said hello and he sort of seemed like a nice empty chap so he thought he'd come up and said he'd better not come up empty handed. He brought a bottle of beer for me from the local brewery. So, a fantastic day. I got a free bottle of beer as well so I'm being a silent fan, respect for the next of all the unnet hosts as we call them over here. But, wow, what a day. Hopefully I was pushed into it by a friend of mine in Portsmouth, he persuaded me to do this and reminded me twice and pushed me into doing this. But yeah, absolutely great fun and with the weight of the time he was operating on the internet he was 18 miles away so yeah, couldn't take off, couldn't handle it and a great day of acting was had by everybody from the team base that we were having last night. But yeah, so that's it. Unfortunately I'm going to log all the paper entries onto a logging program so I can export the log file to get a version of the certificate because it's for myself and the gentleman who came and helped me out. But yeah, still buzzing, the plane's not going to sleep now so I'm awake for the rest of the day. Anyway, thank you Brian and from doing so, and my buddy Liz in the shower.
