I'd be very, very interested to know what Joan said was that she had seen Apple apps made to both platforms, but I'll bet they're notorious for their closed ecosystem. Often people refer to it as the golden handcuffs, those Apple centra like AirDrop, iMessage, FaceTime is a subcomponent of iMessage as I understand it. Only will work on Apple devices. The cost of entry I just checked for an iPhone 17 is $799. So I can see why a bunch of people probably don't have. But just to give you just another point of how greedy they are, yes, they design brilliant hardware and they have brilliant engineers, but take for example a subscription to your favorite Twitch to $1.50 more than it does if you just purchase it on your desktop.
