Good evening Bill and everybody on the net and Rich of course if you're listening somewhere out there. Yeah this is Dean KG70DB. So anyway, when I first started Ham Radio, I bought a Fofang radio like a lot of people did, but I really knew nothing about repeaters and which local repeaters were good or anything like that. So I put it on scan and I just let it go through and at first I was really let down because it was like there was nothing happening at all. But then it stopped, it picked up a station and what it picked up was the wind system. You know, a 441.65 W7 TWA from Mt. Baldy. And so I'm hearing this person talking and they're saying they are in Alabama. I'm thinking wow, this little $35 radio works pretty well. I mean I kind of figured it was some sort of, some technology I didn't understand yet. But yeah the wind system, I used to spend a lot of time on there. There was a thing called the Insomniac Net. It's still there. What they do is they have a trivia question every night and then they, it's like a roll call and then everybody has to give their answers. Like it's a multiple choice and you'll say A, C and D because you picked those particular answers to the question. But you know it's really popular actually on PSRT because years ago K7 LWA, which a lot of the people, younger people have heard about but never got to know because he passed away in 2018. He was the net manager and he was like a major force on this, on PSRT for a long time. But on Friday nights he would do the Insomniac Net. There was a lot of crossover over there so I'd go over there and I'd be on his net. But one of the things that happened with the Insomniac Net was it used to be that they would order the people by how many times and how long you'd been checking in. And over time you'd get really high on the list. But then they changed it so we're going to call people in, in this area or that area or the 7th district. And it kind of upset a lot of people who had put a lot of time into, you know, spent a couple years getting high on the list and all of a sudden it's all shaken up. But yeah the wind system is a great system. I haven't been on there for a while but it's there. So anyway great net tonight. Great to hear everyone. KG 7 ODB. Well thank you Gene and for that background on the wind system. Yeah I just had never heard of it. I had no idea what it was and I've psyched over this Insomniac Net. It looks like it's every night at 10 p.m. Pacific. Interesting. Yeah. Alright if you're interested go to windsystem.org and you can fall into another deep, deep rabbit hole. We are listening to the PSRG 9 p.m. social net for Saturday July 19th. We've gone through two rounds and it's the traditional moment for the host to take a moment and go over the announcement list. So let me do that right now. Next Saturday as usual the Radio Club of Tacoma hosts their open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. And as usual next Saturday also the Simplex Net is at 8 p.m. on 146.56. But not every Saturday brings you the PSRG annual picnic. Ta-doo ta-doo. Saturday July 26th. That is one week from today. It's going to be over in Magnolia Park. If you want to go onto the PSRG.org webpage and sign up and get in. Because sometimes we get people limited. They don't let us have 100,000 people. The park is only so big so we can only let so many people in. So go and sign up. Sign up and bring some nice food and come and have really probably the best event. Well, field day is pretty wonderful but the picnic is wonderful too. So come on July 26th. And coming up soon after that on Sunday August 10th is the next Rain or Shine Net. It is going to be on the east side of Green Lake over there by the paddle boat rentals and where the Green Lake Cafe and Concession Stand is. And just to get you a little interested there's something here that says you pick up your ice cream ticket. You see a little free ice cream in your future. I'm not sure but that's what this notice suggests. So put it on your list Sunday August 10th. Then you have the Picket Sound Anti-Radio and Vintage Electronics Swap Meet at Shoreline Community College on Sunday August 17th from 9 to 2. And that gets you through a pretty nice summer with all announcements when it gets a little cooler. It's just too hot to go into them now. You'll listen to 9 p.m. PSRG Socialite. This is Bill, K7WFP and we're starting round three right now. So if you want to get in on it come ahead now with your call line and your name. K0CMT, Colin, K7CSG, Ryan with an R, IO. But before that we had K0CMT who will be number one on our list. Then an IO. Then who's coming up next? Call sign and name. K7WFP, Colin, K7CSG, Ryan with an R, IO.
