The new standard 8T SD 3.0 also known as Next Gen TV brings new capabilities to over the air broadcasts including 4K HDR video, enhanced dialogue, Dolby Atmos Studio, interactive content, broadcasters started rolling out this in 2019 and stations in more than 90 markets carry it. However, the current standard 1.0 allows you to use like digital video recorders. 3.0 which is not backwards compatible incorporates digital rights management and will not allow you to use video recorders. And also only about 11% of the TVs on the market now support 3.0. So if you are doing it over the air you might want to consider what your use is.
