Melissa hit southeast Cuba as a category three storm. It is forecast to bring life-threatening flooding there before striking the Bahamas later today. Melissa came ashore in Jamaica as a category five storm, tying for the strongest hurricane landfall on record in the Atlantic. The extent of the damage remains unclear.
