As much as I think places wish it could go away, I don't think it's going to go away anytime soon. It's one of the oldest languages. It's defining the business logic, and no matter how many wrappers around it you can have to add into a modern stack, it's really hard to just rewrite in a new language. So yeah, it's probably a good strategy. I know we hear about those stories of old COBOL programmers coming back and making some money as consultants knowing how they can make these business logic changes.
