Well, I'm learning about ECMU modules. It's a module that controls electronic shifting in four-wheelers. I'd never heard of it before, so I decided this morning I was going to have a look and see what it actually does. It's a combination between electronic and hydraulic equipment that allows for the shifting of gears on a semi-automatic or automatic transmission ATV. More side-by-side. It has an automatic and semi-automatic option, but mine doesn't have the automatic option. It just has the semi, which means I basically got to shift gears myself. But it's done with a combination of kind of like a transmission. When you change gears in a transmission or an automatic transmission in a car, the transmission chambers get flooded with fluid. And then the pressure of that fluid pushes an actuator in one direction or another and allows for the vehicle to shift. Well, it's kind of like that in this type of setup as well, only you're shifting yourself. But when you request the shift by pressing the button on the handlebar, the ECMU kicks in the electronic emergent. God, I can't remember the acronym anymore. But either way, it directs hydraulic fluid in one direction or another and then fires off a little electrical charge that allows the transmission to shift up or down. I thought that was pretty cool. I just didn't know how it was being done, so now I do. Other than that, man, I really enjoyed the net this morning. I was like half paying attention and half not, but more so paying attention than not, if that makes sense. Let me reset.
