The sidereal and synotic respectively cycle. And the moon's gravity is strong enough to cause tides and ablation of the earth. So the ablation of the earth, it bulges at the middle, so it makes it look like this sort of flat football sort of thing. And science has shown that several animal species have adjusted their biological cycle to follow the lunar cycle.
