And there's only two places, only two places in the world that had a distinction of being mosquito free, but that's now changed. And for a long time, there were only two places that were believed to be mosquito free, Iceland and the Antarctica. And mosquito loa, they required liquid water to develop, let them survive in extremely cold regions for months in a state of dormancy, like the Canadian Arctic for instance. By winter, across the globe, by sheltering in unfrozen water, and also as adults, they can dig into the ground. In Iceland, it has long winters and frequent freezes and thaws, so autumn and spring. And because of this, this leads to disruption of mosquito eggs and larva. Geothermal vents in the country are likely not, are too hot for mosquitoes to survive. And chemical composition of the vents, water is another factor. But last week, Iceland reported for the very first time mosquitoes being present in the country. And it was confirmed Monday by the Natural Science Institute of Iceland. Just drop in.
