I think she may have written the live image to an SD card instead of a USB drive. It'll work it's the same as using a USB key but that's how you install it now you just throw it on the USB key stick it in a USB port and boot and away you go. Boots into a live session you can try it out play with it install things or you can install it directly from there it's super easy now
