OK. Tomorrow, Thursday, October 16, is the annual Great ShakeOut, an earthquake drill that reminds people to drop, cover, and hold, and more generally, to raise awareness about earthquake preparedness. It happens at 1016 AM on October 16. The Seattle Auxiliary Communications Service, ACS, will hold a brief radio drill as part of the event. ACS members will check in on the W7ACS Columbia Tower repeater, whose frequency is 444.55 megahertz, with a tone of 141.3. Visitors are welcome. For more information, check out shakeout.org. Washington. Saturday, October 25, is season seven, episode six, of the Halloween Rain or Shine New Net Extravaganza at Gasworks Park. We'll be next to the covered gasworks by Lake Union on the east side of the park. Come by for a donut and coffee, check in on the net. Wear a costume if you're so inclined. If you can't make it in person, check into the new net via RF, Echo Link, or All Star. Saturday, November 8, is the next PSIG educational meeting, 1.30 PM. The meeting will be on Zoom. The topic is amateur radio in space, operating ham radio satellites, and the ISS. Presenter will be Mike, KV8, and VMY. And the synopsis here, how to work ham radio satellites using modest equipment with an emphasis on operating the ISS. Access the onboard repeater, APRS, digipeater, and speaking with crew members will be covered, along with satellite operating fundamentals. And of course, what equipment to use.
