KTSMMPH, yes, I went to my writer's workshop this morning and told them a story about my early days at International School, Bangkok, between 62 and 65. And they liked that story. I wanted to recall what happened last night. I was trying to send my weekly Winlink message and I do that over VAR-HF and I got that started when I heard a rumble and realized that there was lightning, not close, but certainly lightning in the area and wondering if I should shut down. I thought it was interesting that I was connected to a gateway in Hood River, Oregon, and it went through like nothing was happening at all. So all this activity in the atmosphere, the lighting and so forth, did not seem to affect the speed. As a matter of fact, I got a very nice 8.2 signal noise ratio, which is in the green, and it did just fine. As the transmission went on, though, the lightning got closer and I'm wondering if I was doing the entirely wrong thing. Not long after that, at 730, we did the net and the storm was even more closer. We were reading pretty hard. And right close to the end there, we lost electricity altogether, but my radios all stayed up. The laptop, of course, kept going because it was on battery, but so did all the radios and I thought that was cool. KJ7BIH, back to that.
