They're the anti-matter companion to electrons. So they're basically the same as electrons, but they have an opposite charge to them. And so unlike earlier studies that relied on simplified spherical models, this approach uses the realistic asymmetric magnetic field configuration that were brought in from the MADS simulation in the same field and shape astrophysical emission that we're in.
