And Hubble was looking at the cosmos. It was a 100 inch telescope at Mount Wolf Observatory here, past being in California. And this is when he zeroed in on a faint smudge of light. He took a bunch of photographic plates of the object, and the fuzzy images would go on to revolutionize the understanding of the universe. And at first, Hubble thought the object was a nova. This is a type of exploding star. Actually, it's not really an exploding star. It's dropping.
