This latest research, the MIT team attempted to solve this by helping NK cells hide from immune detection and their experiment showed that removing, what they did is they removed the surface protein known as HLA class 1 molecule and this allowed the NK cells to avoid attack from T cells in the host immune system. So these protein normally act as identity markers that tell the immune system whether a cell belongs to the body or not. It's like an ID card.
