And scientists, they're alarmed by the astonishing amounts of methane being released, and they're worried that the future global warming predictions might have been underestimated. And methane, this methane, is being trapped in huge amounts under the ocean floor, all around the world, not just the Antarctic, but all around the world, where it can eventually escape from cracks in the sea floor. And once it's released, they form bubbles that rise up to the surface, and then they enter into the atmosphere. And there is probably very little known about these releases, and how many there are, and how much methane makes its way to the surface. In fact, little is known about how much of this methane gets consumed by microbes in the ocean.
