Well first off, I wouldn't call the United States military the last line of defense for the people. That's not true down here in the United States. It may be true in other countries, but not here. The people here are the last line of defense. Why do you think we have the Second Amendment? That's the whole purpose of the Second Amendment, to be completely honest. It's not just to defend yourself, and not just to go hunting, it's not just because you like guns. The purpose of the Second Amendment is to give the people of the United States the ability to defend democracy, period. Now that may be against foreign people, it may be against domestic people. Same thing with the military. When you say an oath, and now I'm speaking primarily on my oath, which is a little different than officers', but both of them, both enlistment oaths say that you will protect the country against all enemies, foreign and foreign, sorry my thumb slipped off, and that you will obey orders. Now if you really truly feel like, hey that is not a legal order, yeah stand up and say it. I'm just saying the mechanism behind that doesn't necessarily include the fact that they can just resign. That's not how it works. Now again, they get courts just like civilians do. They can avail themselves to the court process. I don't know how else to say it. They're in the military. They follow orders, period. That's it. They're trained to follow orders. Chances are, and I'll tell you exactly what we were told when we got to that part and was learning that part in basic is, oh pay grade ain't high enough to decide whether an order is legal or not. That's seriously what we were told. Pay grade is not high enough to decide whether an order is legal or not. I don't necessarily agree with that now that I'm older. But yeah, they're not. The first line of defense against tyranny in the United States is the three branches of government. The middle line of defense is the bureaucracies and the military. And the last line of defense is the people of the United States. That's really how it's designed. Back to you.
