So it's stretching the fabric of space time over large distances, but the smaller things within that space time, like galaxies, their dimensions, their space is not affected by the expansion of space. The atoms in our body, and stuff in a galaxy, they're bound too strongly by gravity, micro-magnetism, and even the strong force to be affected by the expansion of the cosmos. The expansion of the universe doesn't explain its relative emptiness.
