And the explosion was roughly equivalent to about 8 billion Hiroshima type nuclear bombs, which caused the explosion itself, caused the gigantic rock to mostly vaporize. And most of it ended up as fine dust in the upper atmosphere and eventually settled down over the entire world. Something also interesting with this, as it was coming out, and I've mentioned this on previous ScienceNest too, as it was coming out, as it was coming in, it actually dug out before it even hit the ground. The pressure wave in front of the asteroid was actually starting to dig out the crater before the actual impact. So that gives you an idea of the size of it and the immense power of this thing as it was coming in.
