The World Health Organization, the ACOG and the AAP, have stated there are no studies showing that acetaminophen causes neurodevelopmental issues. The most reassuring data comes from a 2022 study in the journal Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health and then a 2024 JAMA study, that's the Journal of American Medical Association study that assessed nearly 2.5 million Swedish kids born between 1995 and 2019. In both studies, no causal links. The study from Sweden showed a marginal association of a pregnant woman's use of acetaminophen and increased their autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder or ADHD, but the association disappeared once siblings in the same family whose mother did or did not take acetaminophen were compared.
