And it's like a rubber band. The more you pull on it, the greater the tension. Eventually, it's going to snap. The same with these field lines. Eventually, a field line snap is like the rubber band breaking. And they will immediately reconnect in a less stressed configuration. And as that reconnection, event it drives energy back to the surface of the sun, and that may cause what's called a polar flare. And it can send electrons and energetic particles into the space in a form of a FCME.
