KC7FMW-KM1X. I have a feeling that you know working for Southwest and dealing with all those different customers was a lot like working for LL Bean which I did at Christmas answering the phones again this was back in the early 90s early to mid 90s and it was just it was very interesting you know some calls were just quick and dirty and you know boom boom boom you're done you could have a an order done in 45 seconds and then others you would work with people you know you might get an elderly woman who was trying to get a pair of slippers for her elderly husband and you know she's telling you the story we've been married for you know 68 years and blah blah blah he really can't get around much and if we can't find slippers that will keep him his feet warm and and on and on and you just get into these interesting conversations with people and they always had a wall that would they would hang if you do if you got a call from a celebrity they would hang the order up on the wall so you could see how many people again this is back before people were shopping online and and so that was always interesting and I never I never the only the closest I came to a celebrity I think it was Dan Aykroyd who was married to Donna Dixon who was this blonde bombshell that was an actress she was on what was that bosom buddies with Tom Hanks and her father called and I think was ordering slippers to send to the two of them that was the closest that I ever got to a celebrity order but it was interesting to hear the stories from the customers and stuff so there we go and now we know that was a Christmas time and now we're going to talk to Santa Mel TV seven PVW a good morning to you Mel how are you how are things going with you and do you have any weekend plans and do you have any strange or interesting jobs that you've had over the years that you want to share with us over to you Mel. Well I've been trying to think about it I don't I don't think I've had any weird jobs but I did leave a job back in the early 80s and I bought a taxi cab I didn't just drive a taxi cab Broadway cab owned about a hundred and ten cabs and I bought one of those from our guy paid cash for it Portland at that time was not really a cab town I mean you had to struggle we tried I tried to make it like a hundred and fifty dollars a day and the key had to pay to support the company you know to dispatch and all their bills you had to pay them $350 a week and before you made anything so I spent a lot of time picking up people at the airport I picked up the conductor for the Portland Cynthia Cynthia cut they would say it James a priest and took him downtown and I also picked up a national news guy that gives bill something boy us 40 years ago I can I remember who it was but anyway yeah Linda Lou and I are going to go get our colored shots today at the Safeway store we have an appointment and probably a flu shot and another shot too I don't know what it is but take it out something to do with the lungs so anyway we'll be going off that and then tomorrow the next day my plumber is going to come and replace my water heater and I hired a gardener I decided I just can't do the yard work anymore all of it anyway so he's gonna come and clear all the bad things around my house here we've got an acre to take care of so it's difficult once you get older anyway that's my two cents not not ready for the old folks home yet but maybe close kv7 pvw back to net
