Well, it's mostly a story of ambition. I've got nephews and nieces through my sibling, and nephews and nieces through brother-in-law, and I picked up at two different ham pests two different years, some very cheap CD radios, and so one thing I'd like to try and do is get a base station antenna up nice and high at one of their locations, and then take them out for a drive, and then that way someone non-certified can be at the base station calling back and see how far we can get with the local comms on the drive and just getting up in the trees, back to net.
