Well hi Dana and Teresa and hello to everybody on the net good morning Well I've been listening to the net on and off this morning as I had coffee and You know got going around here took a shower that sort of stuff I'm I kind of got it a cool thing that I'm doing today a friend of mine is starting a new podcast and the topic of her podcast is all about It's all about connecting it's about like you know connecting with other people and I saw her post on LinkedIn a few weeks back and She was you know just talking about how she's you know looking to develop this theme and looking for people to talk to and I Think they're on there now like hey you know I I could talk about ham radio because I'm such a big fan of it and like idiot like you all know it is about connecting and So she and I had a little bit of a conversation and She was like yes, Madeline this is exactly what I'm looking for so we're doing it today We're gonna record a podcast today. It'll be my first time Being on a podcast that'll be fun. I used to be back used to being commercial radio back in the day So I've been on I've had a microphone in front of me and of course ham radio gives me lots of practice, too But this will be my first time on a podcast and I just think the theme is so cool and You know many of you have heard me on my soapbox about how ham radio is so beautiful because like Like my main point is that most of our interaction with humanity with our fellow citizens and everything is Through these digital modes of communication that are algorithm it algorithmically mediated and they're slicing us up into little groups of people and getting us all like upset and angry and keeping us all in our little information bubbles and those algorithms are just designed to make people money to sell our attention and the you know Ham radio just stands in in contrast to that like it's not Algorithmically mediated, you know what I mean? We're all in the public square together and it's extremely diverse Not just in terms of technology and the modes that we use and all of that sort of stuff all the different like Subcultures within ham radio, but it's diverse in terms of who shows up to that public square And I think that's an amazing and powerful thing So that's what I'm gonna be I'm gonna get on my foot can you tell I'm gonna get on my soapbox today I'm super excited about it and who knows maybe we'll get some more people into ham radio, you know Burned out by the algorithm and want to get off the algorithm and they want to get on on the air I'm hoping that that's the I'm hoping that's the case
