you can actually see the DMR number, the name, and the call sign of the person you're listening to or talking to right on the screen of your radio. I really love that feature about DMR. D-Star and Fusion have something similar, but I just like DMR better. I've never used Fusion, so I can't really comment on it, but if I were to comment on my favorite radio of all the ones I own which is about a dozen different kinds, different models, most of them are Chinese radios, and those are the ones I'd recommend, not the Bofang UV-5R. That's a crappy radio. What I would recommend is one that was already mentioned here, and that would be the Kwanchang UV-K5. If you're ordering that radio, Josh, it is only 30 bucks, but get the correct model. You're going to want the one with the silver front on it. You don't want to get the one that's all black. The one with the silver front is the newer model. These radios can accept custom firmware like what Gray said. When you get the radio out of the box, that's not what you're going to have because essentially it's a commercial radio when it comes out of the box. But when you flash the custom firmware to it, oh buddy, it unlocks a whole plethora of ham radio stuff. Let me reset.
