So when I was there, my background was mechanical engineering and then the oil company sent me to night school to learn oil wells, pipelines and all that stuff. And I worked from Kuwait south into a town called Minasaud where we had a, the company had a loading terminal and a big barge and so at times they needed somebody to sort of work through a problem like a barge that the anchor chain would break and I found some old books. We didn't have the internet, we didn't have much material but there were handbooks written in the 1920s and one of them said that if an anchor chain is really heavy it's vertical and then when the current washes the barge back and forth a little bit it actually wears one of the links and eventually it gets loose. So the barge got loose one day and the barge was like 100 feet long, the barge got loose and so I managed to get them to raise the chain up and lo and behold there was a link that had worn through. So I went to the people in charge of the loading terminal and I said well we got to get smaller chain for the barge and they laughed and they said it must be nuts, the chain is breaking and we need bigger chain. I said I don't think so and I showed them this 1920s book and the reference and gradually they got converted, I forgot exactly what we did but we managed to stop the chain breaking for a while. Go ahead Ian. All Star Node 6222 located in Shelton, Washington. Yeah well that's good. When I was in Dubai I went out to where Al Khaimah, the Hilton's there, I don't know if you've ever been. It's only about 60 miles from Dubai so I was up that way and then I took the boat around the top, Gao thing and did a bit of diving and that. It was good fun. So I operated there but I just used the phone, didn't take a radio. You never know where these places are. So yeah I could use Echo Link and I did quite a bit of travelling at one time by plane and operated when I was in China with the phone, so with Echo Link, nobody bothered, HI. But yes if you've done quite a bit of flying in your time, watch a few people using their mobile and the planes Wi-Fi. That's something else which is available now which of course we didn't have back in the day.
