There might be somebody on the net who's a cell tech that might be able to speak to the system, but my understanding of the way it works is that, so when an alert message is sent out, let's just say there's a tornado warning, right, so they draw a polygon, same for a wildfire, right, they'll do a polygon for the wildfire or the forest fire area, and automatically, I don't know exactly how they figure out what cell towers, but I assume that when they draw the polygon, the system will know that all these cell towers from all these different providers are within the polygon, right, and some of them are on the edge. So, if you're in there, even if you don't have location services on, as long as your device can hear the cell tower, a tower, or multiple towers, it doesn't matter, it'll get the alert, because it's within the alert zone, right? So, I know that sometimes with tornado warnings, we're not within the tornado warning, and we don't have great cell service, but we'll still get the alert, because one of the towers that we're getting it from is within the tornado warning zone, let's say, right? So, I assume that for anything, it's sort of the same thing, right? Where the footprint, especially when you get outside of urban areas, right, you're not really using microsites per se, out in the backcountry, you're, right, they're putting the cell towers up, and they're trying to cover as much space as they can, because it's not economical to have microsites, right? So, they just have broad, you know, wide area sites. So, that's what's going on there. So, your phone doesn't even need to know where it is. It gets the alert regardless, and the alert is, whether the alert's valid for your immediate area or not doesn't matter, right? The phone still pumps it out, so at least you get it.
