I would say general check-ins should be the norm like all your other nets. I honestly think it's a little unfair that if somebody like has to say go to bed at an earlier time, they might only check once every ten weeks because they're rotated. If it were like randomized and you had several weeks published in advance that would be something. But I would go for the general check-ins.
