Sorry, someone was just going to call me on the phone there. Handed that quickly. Alright, well, here I am driving in my car with my new antenna set up. Yesterday I installed this lip-mount antenna with a 2-meter 440 antenna on it. Let's see, I'm trying to remember. This is the... Oh, I forgot the brand. Geez. How can I be so lazy as to forget things like that? Anyway, when I'm running my radio, I'm using my old TYT TH9800. Not the one that you'd give me, but the one that I've had for a long time. And it was weird because I've just got it plugged into the cigarette lighter, so I've got it running on medium power. But when I first turned it on, it was okay the first day, but when I turned it on last evening, it was giving me kind of a motorboat noise for several minutes, and then that finally went away. And then again this morning it did the same thing. And I guess it clears itself up, so that's a good thing. But anyway, this is just a temporary setup anyway with the radio sitting on my seat. I will be working on a more permanent setup over the next week or so here. Actually, I'm really anxious to find out what the configuration is of that new Kenwood 590 version radio when it finally comes out because I would want to set that one up permanently, and I'm going to build an enclosure that will go in the engine compartment that seals it up. Anyway, long story, but I've got to work all that out. But I don't want to buy an enclosure until I find out what the size of the new main unit is so that I don't get an enclosure that's large enough for that, in case that happens to be a larger enclosure than the current series of radios from Kenwood. Anyway, kind of blathering here. Looking at the rotoscope, looks like I'm coming in pretty well on this new antenna setup, so I guess I'll be happy enough with that. I'm going to do some extensive testing at some point, but not today. I'm going to compare it with the roof mount and the mag mount because I'd had really, really good luck with that on my old Kia Soul. Anyway, do a comparison. I'd like to compare stuff, find out what really works. This antenna got mounted on the back end of my hood, so the engine hood is mounted on the lip of the rear. I'll quit with that, and it's a beautiful sunny day, not quite as high as yesterday, so 82 according to my thermometer on the car. K7ZEI.
