Well Rebecca, I got up this morning and kind of tooled around the house a little bit, had some breakfast, and we went down and saw my grandpa one last time. He's still fighting, still holding on. We told him he can go whenever he wants to. And then I got home, crawled up in the loft looking for that barrel connector I was talking about on the 9am net. And didn't find it, but I did find an old QRP Pixie CW for 40 meters that I had put together back in the day. Never got it to work and I was looking at some photos of it online and comparing it to what I have in my hands and I realized I put a couple of things in here backwards. So yeah, that would be why it wasn't working. So I need to get the soldering gun. I don't know if I have a small soldering gun anymore. I have a big one to do big stuff, but not something for this level of detail. So I might have to go borrow one or bring this thing down to a net and trade it off to somebody who knows what they're doing a little better than I. But yeah, it's a fun little thing I found. It looks like it has a crystal for 7.023 megahertz and little inputs for a phone and a key, power outlet and antenna. Real simple, tiny little thing, maybe 2 inches by 2 inches. And some sort of little dial on here. I don't even know. But yeah, I found that. So I've been staring at that, comparing it to the photos online, trying to figure out which pieces I put in backwards. There's at least two. But you know, I was putting it together from a little $5 kit from Amazon, so I can't really blame myself for that. Anyhow, I got the J-Pole set up in the backyard and I was going to check in on the J-Pole and then the folks across the street are getting their bushes trimmed. So it is very noisy outside. So I got back on the internet and ran inside the house where it's nice and quiet. So just chilling with the cats, listening to the net and figuring out which parts I put in backwards on this QRP rig.
