Unlike diamonds, this meteorite structure had two different bond lengths, one longer than the other shorter compared to the diamonds. It also had only two repeating layers. And this shift in layers gives it a hexagonal structure, which likely increases its hardness by about 58%. And by using this meteorite, for example, researchers at the high pressure science and technology research in Beijing attempted to reproduce the impression of an impact with Earth, as by this case originally in the lab.
