Good morning ladies and gentlemen and welcome to the Cowabunga Nut this Friday morning, August 22nd. This nut meets every morning, seven days a week, starting at 7.30 a.m. Eastern, 6.30 a.m. Central or as I like to call it, Texas time. And for everybody else around the world, it's around 11.30 Zulu. Yes I use Zulu. The Cowabunga Nut is not your normal general round table rag shoe nut. We believe people around the world should not be censored based on the topics because some people find them to be not, let's just call them taboo, politics, religion and other things. They're all topics of conversational welcome. We just ask that when discussing these, especially the more controversial issues, including the American president, Donald J. Trump, that you do so with courtesy and respect for your fellow operators' opinions. Not so much for the person you're talking about. With that said, let's get this nut started this morning. I would like to start with a few headlines. These are all picked and chosen by chat GPT. I asked it first thing this morning. One of the top headlines from around the world based on what is being viewed. So this is what it came back with. Number one, the UN has backed a monitor that has officially declared famine in the city of Gaza. With 514,000 people affected and numbers expected to climb. This is being called a manmade disaster. That's from Reuters. The markets are bracing for federal chair Powell. The U.S. markets are jittery ahead of Jerome Powell's big Jackson Hole speech. The treasury yields rising in a talk of possible September rate cuts hanging in the balance. What's Israel's next move in Gaza City? Reports suggest that Israel may be preparing a large-scale military operation. Some analysts think it's more political maneuvering than actually a full-scale assault. I guess time will tell. Starting to round it out on August 23rd, we will see a black moon. Does anybody know what a black moon is? It's the second new moon in a single month. Something that happens only once every 32 months. You won't see it with the naked eye, but it's a rare cosmic event. Anyhow, that's what popped up. The topic of the day is the last lap of summer. I know especially up north, y'all's summer is really coming to an end already. Labor Day is coming up. So that's what we're going to talk about today. We've got a few questions about what you plan to do at the end of summer and beginning of fall. We'll see where this net takes us. With that, I am taking call in.
