Alright, W6RDZ back with the rocket report for the Colorado Astronomy Net. Let's see, fifth launch, China's Cassick successfully launched the Xian 2B-02 satellite into low earth orbit on a Long March 4C rocket from the Qichang Space Launch Site on Sunday, August 14th at 0255 MTD. The satellite is officially declared for quote space environmental detection purposes. Details are unknown. Sixth launch, China's Cassick successfully launched a Long March 6A rocket from the Taiyuan Launch Center on Sunday, August 14th at 0815 MTD. That was for the SatNet Group 9 mission. This is another batch of low earth orbit communication satellite for the Chinese state owned SatNet constellation. Planned to eventually consist of 13,000 satellites. That brings us to launch 7 Friday, August 18th at 1023. The 26 successfully launched Starlink Group 17-5 from Vandenberg Space California. That was another batch of 24 satellites going to a high inclination sun synchronous orbit to cover high latitude customers like Alaska. This launch was out of Vandenberg and it was a beautiful blue sky clear launch. If you are looking for a Vandenberg launch to watch, that is the one. Link is in the report. I'm going to reset the repeater there.
