And analysis showed that the newly named meteorite came from beyond Mars and it's linked to a much larger asteroid that broke up around half a million years ago. So it belongs to a group of asteroids and the main asteroids are all between Mars and Jupiter and that we can tie to the breakup of a much larger asteroid about 470 million years ago. And that breakup, some of the pieces get into Earth's crossing orbit and it's given long enough for their orbit around the Sun and the Earth's orbit around the Sun end up being the same place at the same moment in time. So the Ghana meteorite made an entrance on June 26th and NASA's Meteoroid Environment Office estimated that the 3 foot wide is 1 meter.
