a part of the coax as part of the antenna for the off center feed. So for the Palomar engineers antenna, you are specifically directed to put a chokin 12 feet away from the feed point so that that 12 feet of the coax becomes part of the antenna. But the problem is really again about mismatched impedance. If you get mismatched impedance, you are going to get reflected power and that reflected power manifests as RF in the coax. And so you want to block that as much as possible with the choke right up against the antenna. If you have a very nicely tuned antenna that doesn't really have a mismatch, then that might not be as important.
