I don't know that appropriate is the right word, but it's not quite appropriate. And I mean, that's more of an HF thing. Part of the reason you say CQ three times is because people are flipping channels or the audio is bad and it kind of keeps their repeating so that when somebody flips by they hear you and you don't have it here. So like you said, it's not that it's bad, it's misplaced.
