You might want to look into getting a some type of antenna that has a little bit more gain. If you're having trouble getting into different repeaters, just a little bit better antenna might solve your problem. Some of the vertical antennas that you buy, like the comments and diamonds, they actually have a little ground plane that attaches to the bottom. This may be three or four wires that stick out.
