The earliest of these dogs evolved in North America around 3-4 million years ago. The kenis evolved from earlier dogs that were laying here more around the cephalite. Some remained relatively small and were more omnivorous, something like foxes and coyotes today. But may have evolved to be some of the largest carnivores of their habitat.
