In modern countries, scurvy is very rare. Wear, fruit, and vegetables are even on a regular basis. In the 15th and mid-19th centuries, it's common for sailors on long, distant trips. Europeans avoid the fruit that the indigenous people were consuming. That prevents scurvy. These fruits consist of makkak, which is just a whale blubber and skin that's full of vitamin C and vitamin D.
