It's always been assumed that the speed of light is constant. And it forms a basis of a lot of physics theory. In fact, it plays a pivotal role in various models of what occurred in seconds after the Big Bang. And the theory states that the speed of light could have been variable, and this proved to be a rather radical proposition when it came out. If it were proven true, that would mean that the laws of nature would not cost it, or not as constant as they are today, stopping. Some scientists would...
