Eastern Washington picking up with Jim, K7PDZ. Hey, I heard you're on the Kabara Net this morning there, Jim. How are you doing now? Well, good morning there, Jack. Well, we didn't get to ski. Actually, I took Allison... Or Allison. I took Sarah's ski. She has to go back to work tomorrow. She's an assistant principal in the Spokane School. Tomorrow's her first day back to work. There was a little bit of water at the top of what we call the Narrows. So I gave her a yank up there. She skied about three passes in a relatively short amount of... Not much water. So at least she can go back to school tomorrow with a smile on her face that she had a water ski this morning. So the rest of it, it's still... It's the Roman Whitecaps here, the main part of the lake. So the ski-able part was really small. So anyway, yeah, that's about all we got going. We had a whole bunch of stuff on the list, the stuff to do today that I still haven't gotten that appointment with ADT about the smoke alarms. But we got a little 3x5 car, 3x5 fire car here with stuff to do on it today. Just to get a bunch of little stuff done. Anyway, it was interesting hearing about Matt. I didn't know that Matt ended up landing in Auburn. Which is not too far, but if you're there in Auburn and you don't have transportation, I don't think they have rental cars at the airport in Auburn. At least they didn't when I flew out of Auburn. I don't know. That'll be fun to get the rest of that story. That's about all we got going on here, Jack. I hope I didn't time it out because I didn't let it drop, I don't think, before I started talking. So back to you. This is Jim and Jane at Gear Lake K7. PDZ. Alright Jim, I must have misheard this story because I heard that when Matt was coming in towards Bowie Field, they scrambled eight Super Hornets out of there. So I thought maybe the two were connected, but turned out it was the Blue Angels. So maybe that's why he had to detour. I don't know, but we'll find out a little bit later. Hey, but real quick, so Sarah, what does she say about the coming year for the Spokane School District? I know she's an assistant principal and you were an educator at one time for many years, teaching mathematics to the kids. But real quick, what does she say about the coming year, you know, budgets and just the general nature of the year coming up? She's thinking pretty good things. Jack, we did not talk shop. That's the last thing he wanted to talk about. We only talked about Looting at the Lake and water skiing. They're relatively new and they've only been in the lake for six years. And so, no, we never talk shop at all, so I have no clue. I have no clue, man. K7, PDZ. Oh, that's funny. Can I ask you one real quick question there, Jim? When did you retire officially? I don't remember. Jack, I retired in, what had been the 67, 60, no, 66, 67, 1960, or 1960. That's when I started at Auburn in 1967. So 30 years later is 1997. Then I taught one year at Ohio, so I had 31 years in education and one year at Boeing, 32 years. K7, PDZ. Oh, well, thank you for your service. That is a great job. I'm so glad you're here. I'm so glad you're here. I'm so glad you're here. Oh, well, thank you for your service. That is a great job. I just admire teachers so much. Having lived through Jacob's education, my education, oh, just amazing. All right, thank you, Jim. Yeah, I wouldn't talk shop either. I was just kind of curious if she did. All right, you have a great day. Say hi to Jane. Let's go to West Seattle. Pick it up with Rich, K30E. Rich, I see you're back at your old tricks. Making the crazy antennas last night was hilarious. How are you, sir? Good morning, Jack. Wow, doing pretty good over here. Yeah, and the cantenna is working very, very well. I can't really complain at all. Performance-wise, it's doing great. I had never really checked the SWRM. I don't know how I missed that, but anyway, I did an update and posted that, and I was so surprised. SWRM is not fantastic on 2-meter, but acceptable. I mean, it's usable. It doesn't seem to impact performance very much. But what really surprised me was, just out of curiosity, I said, let me check a couple of other bands. That was better on 220 than it was on 2-meter, so I've got a 220 antenna that's usable. How about that? So, anyway, and you ask about materials, pretty much zero. Everything came out of the recycle bin and a few screws and a little solder, and you throw something together and it works. Anyway, it was a fun project, and yeah, it just shows. If it will conduct electricity, you can probably make an antenna out of it. Back to you, K-308. Alright, well, and to that end, Rich, I have a list of some of the crazy antennas you've built in the past, and they are hilarious. I don't know how you get electricity through a sock, but there was one called the Sock Tenon, Heater Tenon, Tray Tenon, Clamp Tenon, Can Tenon, Drill Towel, Rack Tenon, Saw Grilled antenna. Let's see, we've got a couple other really good ones too. Wrench and Fire Poker antenna, Pressure Cooker antenna. I mean, there are a lot of them on this list, and there are pictures available for all these. Oh, Leisure and Work antenna, I don't know if you remember that one. Lord of the Rings expansion antenna. Geez. Oh, boy, great to have you back in town, Rich. I cannot wait to see the next one. So, fantastic, and thanks for the SWR report on that one. Alright, K-308, that's Rich in West Seattle. I'm Jack, KI7RMU923AM. Let's continue now. If you'd like to join me here on the Nine O'Clock Net, come ahead and call, sign a name. KJ7, Fox, Kilo, Bravo, Tree. Good morning, Tree, I've got you on the list. Who's next? KI7, AJM, Skipper. Hey, good morning, Skipper. Standby, we'll get you in. More stations. Ford, Charlie Romeo, Quebec, Steve Mobile, IO. Thanks a lot, Jack. Hey, Steve, great to hear you. Man, it's been a long time. I hope you're doing well. Hope you enjoyed Sea Fair Weekend. If not, hope you enjoyed doing something almost as amazing or even exceeding that on the amazing scale. Thanks, Steve. Good to hear. W4CRQ, anybody else?
