to go with a bunch of friend hiking all the way to Old Rag Mountain in Virginia. So my friend laughed at it, but I decided to wrap the handout with the local repeaters, both GMRS and hand. Okay, they're convinced that there might be self-service, but I doubt it. But we'll see. One thing I did notice on these road trips though is that a longer antenna, especially on the car ride, generally doesn't do too well. It tends to pick up more interference than it's were, so I brought a little rubber duck hand antenna too. So hopefully by decreasing the gain, you will have less potential for interference. Do you think about the shorter antenna for the car ride? I don't have a mad mountain antenna yet.
