In this study, the scientists, they modeled the flashes' length. And what they did, they modeled it by vandalizing data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, NORTH. They're using their Gold 16 satellite and these are what I'll use for the agency's satellites with mappers that are out there always monitoring the ground. And using the new algorithms, scientists were able to separate the Gold from millions of other light flashes to finally reveal it to a stand.
