or something, I think they get energy from sugar, so I think that's what they drink. But the red is what attracts them to the feeder. If you just leave it clear, they don't see it. They see right through the clear. They don't realize that's a feeder. So, also had a regular bird feeder up on a metal post coming up out of the ground, probably about five to six feet tall. And through some flower seeds in there and maybe some grains and stuff mixed in with it, different birds like different kinds of feed. The problem with that was the dog-on squirrels kept trying to climb the pole to get to the food. And so we had to come up with the unique way to stop that from happening. So, a large can of Crisco smeared on the pole seems to do the trick. There's some funny videos of the squirrels sliding down the pole.
