The first earthquake, a magnitude 7.2 event, started a little after 6 p.m. Eastern, with the second one following less than a minute later. The second quake was 7.5 magnitude, and was the largest to hit the country since 1900. By Thursday, at least 188 people had died, and hundreds more were trapped in the rubble or missing. They actually pulled an 11-year-old kid out of the rubble today, I think. It's pretty amazing. Can't imagine being buried in the rubble for half a week. Unbelievable.
